We request all our Kestrelflyer members to take note of these important terms and conditions pertaining to membership, tiers, baggage allowance, awards, lounge access, nominees, beneficiaries, partners, miles and more. 

Kestrelflyer Terms and Conditions

  1. Registration for Kestrelflyer membership is open to all persons aged 12 and over, with a mailing address in Mauritius or any other country that does not prohibit participation in this programme.

  2. Applicants are required to complete the online registration on the Air Mauritius website. Evidence of travel by the prospective member must be produced as required within the 12 months prior to the application. Please note that industry and agent discounted tickets will not be considered for the purpose of the application. We are pleased to inform you that your membership commences on the date the application is approved.

  3. At Air Mauritius, we reserve the right to refuse, at any time, the membership application form or, at our discretion, revoke membership of the Kestrelflyer Programme without giving any notice or reasons.

  4. The Kestrelflyer card is personal and is not transferable.

  5. As the property of Air Mauritius, Kestrelflyer Red, Kestrelflyer Silver and Kestrelflyer Gold cards can be recalled at any time.

  6. Membership cards are subject to paragraph 3 and are valid up to the date indicated on the card.

  7. At the membership card expiry date, each member’s miles with Air Mauritius are reviewed. Membership is renewed as per the qualification criteria.

  8. Any taxes, charges or duties arising from participation in the programme shall be paid by the member.

  9. Miles accumulated can also be forfeited without entitlement to compensation.

  10. Miles purchased under the Cash and Miles feature are non-refundable and non-transferable.

  11. Air Mauritius cannot guarantee or accept liability from loss or damage arising from the provision or non-provision of services or benefits by its Programme Partners.

  12. Abuse of the Kestrelflyer Silver or Kestrelflyer Gold services and benefits; failure to follow the programme Terms and Conditions; or any misinterpretation of information relating to the programme may result in cancellation of membership.

  13. Members should notify Air Mauritius Loyalty Marketing of a change in address or email, if any, by writing to us at mkloyal@airmauritius.com 

  14. By accepting to become a member of the Kestrelflyer programme, the applicant hereby consents to the collection, processing and use of any personal data regarding the applicant, provided at the time of the application or to be provided when already a member to Air Mauritius, for:

    (a) the purposes of handling the member’s account with Air Mauritius;

    (b) marketing purposes and sharing the personal data to Air Mauritius programme partners; and/or

    (c) such other purpose as may be permitted by applicable laws and regulations.

    Should an applicant at any time after becoming a member request us in writing to stop, or not to begin the processing of his personal data for marketing purposes and sharing his personal data to other programme partners, Air Mauritius shall as soon as reasonably possible stop the processing of the personal data to the member for marketing and sharing purposes.

    If you do not agree to our use of the information as set out above, you should inform us as soon as possible by writing to us at mkloyal@airmauritius.com.

    In accordance with the Mauritius Data Protection Act 2017, you may ask us in writing for a copy of the information we hold about you and to correct any inaccuracies in your information. We aim to respond to you within one month as from the date of the request.

  15. An administration fee of EUR10 will be charged for replacement of misplaced / lost cards.

  16. Air Mauritius reserves the right to amend, modify, alter and/or terminate at any time, without giving notice, throughout the world, or in a specific country, the Kestrelflyer programme. This include the right of Air Mauritius to terminate at any time the right of any or all members of the Kestrelflyer to earn or redeem mileage and/or other benefits enjoyed under the present scheme.

  17. Air Mauritius cannot be held liable for any loss or damage, whether direct, indirect, or consequential resulting from termination or change of the rules pertaining to the Kestrelflyer scheme or any of the facilities, benefits or arrangements which are made available to Kestrelflyer members including the withdrawal or limiting of any such benefits, facilities or arrangements advertised or provided to the Kestrelflyer member.

  18. While Air Mauritius will use its reasonable endeavors to ensure that the services, benefits, facilities and/or arrangements expressed or advertised as being available to Kestrelflyer members, Air Mauritius cannot guarantee that such services, benefits, facilities and/or arrangements will be made available. By the same token, Air Mauritius cannot be held liable for any loss or damage, whether direct, indirect or consequential from the provision or non-provision, whether in whole or in part, of any such services, benefits, facilities or arrangements.

  19. In the unfortunate event of death of a member, the membership is terminated and all accumulated mileage and unused awards are cancelled.

  20. The rules and regulations as set above will apply to you as a kestrelflyer member and form part of the Terms and Conditions.

  21. The Terms and Conditions of the Kestrelflyer scheme are governed by the Laws of the Republic of Mauritius. In the event of any dispute both parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Mauritian courts.
  1. The Kestrelflyer programme is an individual program. Hence, a corporation is not eligible to become a member. 

  2. Members can update their profile details online. 

  3. In the event a Frequent Flyer member wishes to change his status to nominee, a fee of EUR50 is applicable.
  1. The three levels of membership are: Kestrelflyer Red, Kestrelflyer Silver and Kestrelflyer Gold.

  2. The membership tier depends on the number of qualifying miles earned by the member, within a period of three years as applicable. 

  3. Air Mauritius may change the number of qualifying miles required for each tier, at any time, without any notice. 

  4. Kestrelflyer Silver and Kestrelflyer Gold cards are valid for three years.
  1. The additional baggage allowance benefit with Kestrelflyer Silver or Kestrelflyer Gold cards is contingent on presentation of the valid membership card (physical or digital version) at check in counters, failing which Air Mauritius cannot guarantee acceptance of the additional luggage. In such a situation, normal fees for excess luggage will have to be charged to the passengers. 

  2. The additional baggage allowance benefit with Kestrelflyer Silver or Kestrelflyer Gold cards is not applicable on code share flights operated by "South African Airways", “Malaysian Airlines”, and "Emirates". 

  3. This additional baggage allowance is applicable only on Air Mauritius direct flights from/to Mauritius.
  1. Confirmation of seats for all award tickets is subject to availability in the specific booking class.

  2. All applicable taxes (including airport and/or government taxes), carrier imposed charges are payable by the member or beneficiary at the time of an award ticket's issuance.

  3. One way award ticket is not applicable with our partner Emirates.

  4. Award tickets are not applicable on code share flights operated by "South African Airways" and “Malaysian Airlines”.

  5. An award ticket in Premium Economy is valid on Air Mauritius flights operated by Air France.

  6. You will not earn miles when travelling on award tickets.

  7. Award tickets are valid for a maximum stay of 12 months as from first date of departure.

  8. Award tickets which has not been used, will expire after 12 months as from date of its issuance.

  9. A fee of EUR40 applies for change of date for the following destinations: Paris, London, Shanghai, Geneva, Hong-Kong, Delhi, Kuala Lumpur, Perth, Singapore, Bengaluru, Cape Town, Chennai, Mumbai, Durban, Johannesburg, and Nairobi.

  10. A fee of EUR25 applies for change of date for the following destinations: Antananarivo, Seychelles, Reunion, and Rodrigues.

  11. Any additional taxes will be collected upon ticket re-issuance.

  12. Change of routing is not permitted.

  13. Award tickets cannot be upgraded.

  14. A member can redeem miles for award tickets for self, nominees and beneficiaries.

  15. Award tickets redemption is not possible for infants (under 2 years of age).

  16. The same number of miles is required for adult and children’s award tickets (aged between 2 and 12 years old).

  17. Cancellation of award ticket is permitted only if ticket is fully unused and has not technically been expired. However, expired miles will not be re-credited to a member's account. Cancellation fee may apply.

  18. Requests for award tickets must be made at least one week before the departure date either by filling in the required award request form or by submitting the request online.

  19. When requesting an award ticket, a member may be requested to supply a copy of his or her passport.

Kindly note, some countries require that the passport is valid for a minimum period beyond your trip- usually six months: For instance:

Originating from Mauritius: Passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your return date.

To Mauritius: Passport must be valid beyond the intended period of stay in Mauritius.

  1. A member can redeem miles for upgrading for self, nominees and beneficiaries.

  2. Confirmation of seats in Premium Economy and Business Class is subject to availability in the specific booking class.

  3. Upgrading to Premium Economy is only possible on Air France operated flights to and from Paris.

  4. For upgraded tickets against miles, miles will be credited based on the original class of travel (Economy Class).

  5. Any additional taxes (including airport and/or government taxes) and carrier imposed charges are payable (by the member or beneficiary) at the time of upgrading of the ticket (re-issuance of ticket).

  6. Using miles for upgrading is not permitted on staff or rebated tickets, industry and agent discounted tickets or any other free tickets.

  7. Cancellation of upgrading is permitted only if ticket is fully unused. However, expired miles will not be re-credited to a member's account. A cancellation fee may apply.
  1. A member can redeem miles for excess for self, nominees and beneficiaries. 

  2. Excess baggage can be in the form of weight or piece concept depending on the routing.

  3. An electronic document “Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD)” is issued when miles are redeemed for excess baggage.

  4. The Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD) is valid for the routing for a maximum of 1 year.

  5. On the Rodrigues sector, a member can redeem a minimum of 5 kg and a maximum of 15 kg.

  6. Once the EMD is issued, cancellation/change of routing/change of passenger name/change of date are not permitted.

  7. Members are required to present the EMD at check-in counters to avail of the excess baggage option, failing which Air Mauritius cannot guarantee acceptance of the additional luggage and the normal fees for excess baggage will have to be charged to the passengers.
  1. Lounge access is available only when travelling on an Air Mauritius flight.

  2. Lounge access is available at SSR International Airport in Mauritius and Air Mauritius designated lounges across our network. 

  3. The lounge access benefit for Kestrelflyer Gold cardholders will be allowed upon presentation of a valid card, in the absence of which Air Mauritius cannot guarantee access to the lounge.

  4. Kestrelflyer Gold members may, irrespective of their class of travel, invite one guest travelling on the same flight to join them in the Air Mauritius lounge Les Salons Amédee Maingard at SSR International Airport only. Lounge access is available four hours prior to the flight.
  1. Kestrelflyer Silver and Kestrelflyer Gold members may opt to add nominees.

  2. Nominees are elected members of the family who can only contribute 50% of their travel miles into the cardholder’s account.

  3. Designated nominees could be spouse and children (as from 2 years old), or parents.

  4. Nominees do not hold full membership status. A nominee card is issued for identification only. 

  5. A copy of the birth certificate must be provided at the time of registration of the nominee. Nominee miles will be credited into parent member’s account for travels made after/as from the date the parent member has reached the Kestrelflyer Silver or Kestrelflyer Gold status.

  6. Members are required to ensure that the nominee card number is inserted in the booking/reservation for automatic nominee miles update.

  7. A member may opt to remove a nominee from his account. The nominee will become a member and start accumulating miles in his own account. Any travels already credited as nominee miles will not be cancelled and transferred.

  8. A written memo must be obtained from the concerned Frequent Flyer giving approval to remove the nominee from his/her account.

  9. Nominee miles are non-qualifying miles and are not considered for card renewal or upgrade. Hence, they can be used for awards only.
  1. A beneficiary is someone elected by a member to receive an award.

  2. A beneficiary can be a cardholder and can accumulate miles in his name.

  3. A nominee can also be a beneficiary.
  1. The Cash & Miles facility applies to award tickets (return tickets only) on Air Mauritius and airline partners.

  2. Cash & Miles also applies for upgrades on Air Mauritius flights only.

  3. Members can purchase a minimum of 50 miles at EUR 1 (or the local currency equivalent).

  4. Please note that miles purchased are non-qualifying and will not be considered for card renewal or membership tier change.

  5. Air Mauritius reserves the right to change the price of the purchased miles and to impose additional restrictions on the purchase of miles at any time.

  6. For Cash & Miles, payment can be made through your credit card. You may also pay in cash at your local Air Mauritius office.
  1. All discounts associated with the membership tier will be allowed upon presentation of a valid card (physical or digital version) to the service providers, in the absence of which Air Mauritius cannot guarantee provision of such discounts. You may also be requested to provide an identification (Identity Card or Passport).

  2. Discounts are not cumulative. 

  3. Discount rates may be reviewed anytime during the year without prior notice.
  1. Please note that miles accrued with our partners are non-qualifying and are valid for three years.

  2. The Kestrelflyer card must be presented to our partner upon purchase and payment of the services, failing which Air Mauritius cannot guarantee partner miles credit into the member’s account. You may also be requested to provide an identification. (Identity Card or Passport)

  3. Non-airline partner miles do not apply to nominees.

 

  1. Tier bonus miles are miles earned by Kestrelflyer Gold cardholders.

  2. Tier bonus miles represent 50% of miles earned in Economy class as applicable on Air Mauritius flights.

  3. Please note that tier bonus miles are non-qualifying miles and cannot be considered for card renewal or membership tier change.

  4. Tier Bonus is also not applicable on miles earned with our airline partners.
  1. Priority check-in benefit provided to Kestrelflyer Silver or Kestrelflyer Gold cardholders is subject to availability of counters at airports.

  2. Moreover, this facility can only be availed upon presentation of a valid membership card (Physical or Digital version) at check in counters.
  1. Kestrelflyer members can benefit from carriage of one golf bag free of charge for travel on AIR MAURITIUS / AIR FRANCE flights on the Paris - Mauritius route and on approved flights on our partner Air France to / from destinations beyond hub Roissy Charles de Gaulle.

  2. The bag should contain only golf equipment and should not exceed the prescribed maximum weight of 20 kg.

  3. Golf bags must be checked in separately from checked baggage.

  4. Requests for Kestrelflyer Golf vouchers must be made online and will be sent to the member by email.

  5. Two copies must be presented at check-in, one at your departure airport and the other when checking in for your return trip.

  6. Without the Golf voucher, the applicable fee for the golf bag will be charged if the latter cannot be permitted within your normal baggage allowance.

  7. Members must ensure that the name and Kestrelflyer membership number registered on the Golf Voucher match the information on the Kestrelflyer membership card and the ticket.

  8. If any of the connecting flights is on an airline which is not an Air Mauritius partner, the applicable fee for golf bag may unfortunately still be charged.
  1. There are 2 types of miles- Qualifying Miles and Non-Qualifying miles.

  2. Qualifying Miles are miles earned on sectors travelled by the cardholder irrespective of class of travel, on Air Mauritius flight numbers, to and from Mauritius (direct flights).

  3. The number of qualifying miles determines the membership tier (Red, Silver or Gold).

  4. Non-qualifying miles are miles earned as Tier Bonus, miles allocated from nominee travels, miles earned from Internet Check In, Internet Sales and other bonuses, miles earned from our Partners (airline and non-airline partners). These miles cannot be considered for card renewal or membership tier change but can be used for awards.

  5. To ensure that your miles for each trip are credited to your account, your Kestrelflyer number must be inserted in your booking.

  6. Miles have a lifetime of three years and expire on a monthly rolling basis.

  7. Please note that missing miles requests with our airline partners should be made within six months of the flight date. Any request will be considered as per eligibility of the travel. 
  1. Bonus miles are miles earned as Tier Bonus, miles earned from Internet Check In and Internet Sales and other bonuses.

  2. Please note that these are non-qualifying and cannot be considered for card renewal or membership tier change.
